Thanks to Sarah Palin, Halloween Came Early This Year!

In anticipation of the debate where Sarah Palin will try to convince Americans that she is qualified to be vice president and ready-to-be-president of these United States.

I don't care how much cramming she's doing since her selection as GOP VP choice, it won't help. Someone needs to have an understanding first, a concept, a clue before trying to memorize all that information. Otherwise all the data fogs the mind.

Now, Joe Biden is supposed to respect ignorance and go easy on her. I understand why, but it's crazy! Of course, the hubris is on those who are not qualified to hold such a high public office, but they think they can fool the American public to elect them. For me, these persons deserve ridicule. Surely, it's not just about their idiotic policy and vision, but anyone who believes the Earth is 6,000 years old, that humans strolled along the vegetarian dinosaurs, and that the soul can exist in a petri dish, is absolutely not qualified to be anything more than a spokesperson for ignorance!

Just in case you think SNL distorted reality, here is the transcript of the Curic-Palin exchange:

COURIC: Why isn't it better, Governor Palin, to spend $700 billion helping middle-class families who are struggling with health care, housing, gas and groceries; allow them to spend more and put more money into the economy instead of helping these big financial institutions that played a role in creating this mess?

PALIN: That's why I say I, like every American I'm speaking with, were ill about this position that we have been put in where it is the taxpayers looking to bail out. But ultimately, what the bailout does is help those who are concerned about the health-care reform that is needed to help shore up our economy, helping the—it's got to be all about job creation, too, shoring up our economy and putting it back on the right track. So health-care reform and reducing taxes and reining in spending has got to accompany tax reductions and tax relief for Americans. And trade, we've got to see trade as opportunity, not as a competitive, scary thing. But one in five jobs being created in the trade sector today, we've got to look at that as more opportunity. All those things under the umbrella of job creation. This bailout is a part of that.

Probably some of you remember hearing how Sarah Palin had concealed her pregnancy from her parents, friends, and even her own children until she was well into her third trimester. It has been reported that Palin kept her pregnancy a secret because she was afraid of being criticized as a pregnant governor. Sure, it seemed strange that she would keep the pregnancy a secret from her own parents and children for that reason, but we all accepted it anyway. Well, hold on to your hats.

It turns out that Sarah found out from her doctor that she was having a Downs Syndrome child after having a prenatal screening for birth defects done; something that many opponents of abortion actually choose not to do. This was around the fifteenth week of her pregnancy, and the results left her torn as to whether she should do what over 90% of people do in the same situation: abort the child.

According to someone who counts herself as a close friend and confidant of Palin, Sarah was considering aborting the fetus throughout her second trimester and this is why she kept the pregnancy a secret from even those closest to her. Of course the implications of this are staggering. First, a woman who claims to staunchly oppose abortion was seriously considering getting the procedure done for her self. Second, a person who claims to be an advocate for special needs children was considering aborting a child just because he had Downs Syndrome. Sure, the vast majority of people who learn through prenatal screening that they are pregnant with a Downs Syndrome child choose to abort it, but does that make it right? And why was it okay for her to even consider having an abortion when she claims to be adamantly opposed to it?

Quite a ‘hockey mom’, huh?

The problem with Republicans is that they have to appeal to their conservative base, and, in particular, to their religious conservatives. The base has learned to expect/demand this anti-abortion stance from their leaders.

I hope this election (and the beating they're going to get) makes the GOP change for the better.

Most Repub leaders don't buy all that conservative ideology, and proof is that the lives they live. Besides, they know that many laws on morality they support don't apply to them.

If abortion is not legal or available it won't affect, say, Bush's daughters. They can hop on a private jet and go to Europe to get any procedure they want.
